I moved to North Carolina, from Connecticut, after graduating from Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts and began teaching 5th grade at Cornelius Elementary 19 years ago. After two years in 5th grade, I moved to third grade and have taught 3rd for the past 16 years. Last year, I began teaching 2nd grade and I am excited to embark on this new school year with you all as 2nd class of second graders! I am proud to say that I have spent the last 22 years teaching at this wonderful school. I am also proud to say that both of my children attend this amazing school! My oldest son has attended this school since Kindergarten and is in 6th grade now, and my youngest son is in 2nd Grade with Mrs. Dubiel this year. My family and I love living in this community and have happily called it our home since 2000.
In 2010, after my first son, Ty, was born I received my National Board Teaching Certification! This has always been a goal of mine and I worked many long hours to achieve it! This past school year, I submitted my renewal portfolio to maintain my National Board Teaching Certification! Teaching has always been my passion. I have always enjoyed my job and as much I hope that I always leave a lasting impression on each one of the students that have sat in my classroom, I can tell you that each one of the students has left a huge impression on me and my heart. In 2019, I earned my NBCT renewal for another 10 years!
In May, 2014 my husband and I welcomed our second son, Tate. Both of my boys keep me very active and very busy. We love being outdoors, riding go-carts, playing and watching basketball (Go Heels!) and spending quality time together.
I am thrilled to have all of you in my 22nd class at CES!! I look forward to an amazing year filled with a lot of fun, laughter, friendship and learning!
